My first blog post…

Should surely be a reflection on the year just gone?

SO much happened but lets keep this short! The Lorelles got lovely new member Therese, we recorded our debut EP, we wrote, recorded and released our first single Riot in your Heart, we serenaded Boris Johnson and sang with Newton Faulker, we were on Sky News, I started fab new choir Marylebone Community Choir (MCC) who debuted at the St Mary’s Christmas carol concert (epic, huge) we sung outside 10 Downing Street… on the personal front, I got engaged and married!! Phew – 2011 was quite a year.

I’ve now fully entered the world of FREELANCE (have been hovering round the edges for a while, but have been keeping it ‘safe’ with part time jobs too) and it’s great so far!! I love the freedom and the sense that I’m so in control of the direction that my career is taking – what I do take on and what I choose not to. This is an art that I’ve been trying to learn over the past years, not too sucessfully. Usually I just do EVERYTHING that I possibly can and then wonder why I can a) no longer speak b) sleep for the whole week I go to see my parents. My overwhelming positivity may well be to do with the fact that it’s 9.15am and I am feeling wildly optimistic about my productivity potential…give me a few hours and I’ll be wondering what exactly it IS I’ve been doing all day, and why I’m still in my PJ’s. Lets see.

Today, I hope to achieve: my tax return (this has been on my To Do list for precisely one week), a definitive list of repertoire for this term’s MCC and two arrangements started, and to start a new song on my new ukelele. Wish me luck!!
